So I didn't write something on Friday and I should have. There is a plus side to this though now I get to write about Saturday at Rod Con sooner. That should make everyone happy if not it makes me happy. Rod Con was awesome. That sums it up there, but lets put more words to it. They people at Rodcon where so nice and respectful. They had food for the vender to have before the show which is a nice way of them going out the way to make sure we had everthing we needed. The people going around and visiting booths were super nice too. They would talk to you ask questions. The venders I think for the most part if you knew you had something would redirect to someone if they asked about it. You cant ask for a better show. I know I was personally talking to customers and people till the show closed. That was great being able to do that. I would have no complaints about doing my first con. I would give it 5/5 stars and cant wait to do it again next year. I will be at two more shows in april a craft show this Saturday in grimes and art mart on the 22nd. Cant wait to see some of you there!
So I think everybody knows when I write these I don't do much editing. I do go through and make it sound as well as I can. I think that I want to say I just do it myself so people can hear my thoughts. Anyone that knows me knows I can't write the best, but I will keep trying.
I have a show this Saturday and made a few pieces for a kid cancer fundraiser. I am also working on pieces I need to get out one I have been waiting on till I got the right tool to make it a very good piece. I like being able to donate some stuff to help out, but being as I do this on a small scale I cant do it very often as I don't have the biggest cash flow. One day I will be able to donate a lot more and be able to donate.
Time management can be one of my hardest things when I get a project to get all the details, find all the stuff to make it. Then you have to draw it out make sure it fits well there is always more to it then everybody thinks then you get the question how long. well when I have never made this thing let me guess of this other project I made I give my self a couple extra day of leaway ( I always push the leaway) so yea I don't guess well and that is what that is most of the time guessing. When I have made few hundred of something I will know better I think at how long something will take.
Sometimes it can be hard starting something. When you have a spouse, friends, and family helping it makes a difference. You will get on hard on yourself and frustrated it is not easy getting started, but it can be worth it.
I had to do a lot thing that didn't let me get the work I wanted to get done. I had to work on my truck which still isn't finished. It should be this weekend at least to a usable point. Then I will be able to get going on projects again. I feel bad when I cant work in the shop and get stuff done. Maybe its because I don't get to be creative or something else.
On a positive note though D.W. is going places. We have lined up about 7 shows so far this year and trying for a few more. These are not just to get are name out there though it does help in that. It also helps to meet people face to face that I normally wouldn't be able too. I like being able to meet the people that will or are buying my creations. I'm more of a meet people face to face guy not a phone or text or email guy. I do those things also, but I would rather talk to the audience. I am going to keep this short but know I am going to try to these weekly to bi-weekly so that I can keep more informed people as to how we are progressing.
